How we handle your parcel

Sending valuables by post takes trust. Here is precisely what happens to your parcel once it leaves your hands.

What happens to my parcel after it arrives? It is signed for, opened on camera and photographed as received, then logged against the description given when the label was requested. Items are held securely, stay identifiable throughout and are never pooled with other parcels. GoldPaid then weighs and XRF-assays each piece and sends a written offer. Proportionate identity and ownership checks apply, in line with UK anti-money-laundering practice, so some sales need documents before payment.

Every step, documented

  • Arrival and check-in. Your parcel is signed for, opened on camera and photographed as received, with the contents logged against the description you gave us when you requested your label. Nothing is processed anonymously.
  • Secure storage. Items are held securely and remain identifiable as yours throughout. They are not pooled with other sellers' items before assessment.
  • Assessment. Each item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry. We record the results and prepare your written breakdown.
  • Your offer. We send your offer in writing, the purity, the weight, the rate and the figure. No pressure, no time-limited tactics.
  • If you accept. Payment is sent by Faster Payments directly to your bank account within one working hour of acceptance.
  • If you decline. Everything is returned to you free of charge by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post. No fees, no questions.

Identity and ownership

As a precious-metals buyer we carry out identity and ownership checks on every transaction, in line with UK anti-money-laundering practice. Photo ID is required from every seller, whatever the parcel is worth. This protects honest sellers: it means stolen goods are far harder to move, it means your transaction is properly recorded, and because it applies to everyone nobody need read the request as suspicion of them. We tell you upfront, before you post.

Your data

We only collect what we need to complete your sale and meet our legal obligations. Your contact details, your bank details to pay you, and the transaction record. We explain exactly how this is handled, and how long it is kept, in our privacy policy.

Common questions

How quickly do you assess a parcel?

Most parcels are assessed on the working day they arrive. If there is any delay we keep you informed.

Is my parcel opened on camera?

Yes. Parcels are opened on camera and the contents photographed as received, so there is a record of exactly what arrived before anything is weighed or tested. If you are sending a high-value parcel, tell us when you request your label and we will confirm arrival as soon as it is signed for.

Will my items be kept separate from other people's?

Yes. Your items remain identifiable as yours throughout assessment. They are not pooled with other sellers' items before you receive your offer.

How is payment made?

By Faster Payments bank transfer directly to your account, within one working hour of you accepting the offer.

What if I decline the offer?

We return everything to you free of charge by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post. There is no fee for declining.

Request a free prepaid Royal Mail label

Tell us where to send it. The label arrives by email, usually within about 30 minutes during working hours. Requesting one commits you to nothing: you get a written offer after the XRF assay, and if you decline, your items come back to you free.

Would you rather ask a question first, or send a photo? Message us on WhatsApp . It is the fastest way to get a sense of what something is worth before you post anything.
