Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The questions GoldPaid customers ask most often, about posting, cover, valuation, payment and what happens if you change your mind. Still unsure? Just ask on WhatsApp.

Before you post

The honest short version: you never have to commit to anything to start. Message GoldPaid on WhatsApp or call, send a photo for a quick indicative figure, and request a free prepaid Royal Mail label only when you are ready. Nothing leaves your hands until you choose to send it.

Common questions

Do I have to commit before I post anything?

No. Ask anything first and send photos on WhatsApp for a quick indicative figure. You only post if you choose to, and even then there is no obligation to accept the offer.

How do I get the prepaid Royal Mail label?

Message GoldPaid on WhatsApp or call. We send a free Royal Mail Special Delivery label. No printer? We send a QR code you show at the Post Office counter.

How is my parcel protected in the post?

It travels on Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, fully tracked, signed for, and arranged with compensation cover of up to £2,500 per parcel. For higher-value items, message us before posting.

How are my items valued?

Every item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry. Your offer is built from confirmed purity, accurate weight and the live market rate, and you see it all in a written breakdown before deciding.

How and when do I get paid?

Once you accept your written offer, payment is made by bank transfer using Faster Payments, directly to your account.

What happens if I decline the offer?

Everything is returned to you free of charge by tracked, insured Royal Mail post. There is no fee for declining and no follow-up pressure.

Do I need to visit a shop?

No. GoldPaid is a UK-wide postal service with no branches. Everything is done by post.

Can I send photos before posting?

Yes. It is encouraged. A few clear photos on WhatsApp let us give you a quick indicative figure before anything is sent.

What can I sell?

Gold, silver and platinum in almost any form and condition, jewellery, scrap, coins, bullion, dental gold, diamond pieces. We do not buy gold-plated, gold-filled or costume items. See the what we buy page.

Is selling gold by post safe?

Posting gold on a tracked, signed-for, insured service is a routine process used by jewellers and dealers every day. See the "is it safe to post gold?" page for the full detail and a packing checklist.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically a day or two in the post each way, with assessment usually on the working day your parcel arrives, then payment by Faster Payments once you accept.

Do you guarantee a price before you see my items?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Photos give a quick indicative figure only. Your firm offer is set after an XRF assay confirms the purity and weight of your specific items.

Still have a question? Just ask

A photo and a question are the whole first step. We answer honestly, you decide whether to post, and you decide again, only after the written offer, whether to accept.
