Get your free Royal Mail label

Please send us photos on WhatsApp, and we will help you. We can give you a rough estimate where possible and explain what happens next. Prefer to talk? Call us. When you are ready to post, we will arrange your free prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery label with you. There is no obligation to sell.

Our team is available 8am to 9pm, 7 days a week.

  • Free and prepaid. No postage cost to you, and no shop to visit: you hand the parcel in at any UK Post Office counter.
  • No obligation, free return. Decline the written offer and the whole parcel comes back by Royal Mail Special Delivery at our cost.
  • Postal option confirmed before you post. Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. GoldPaid can confirm the appropriate postal option before you post.
  • The method is published. Purity, weight and the rate on the day: how we value gold and silver.

What happens after we have spoken

Once we have agreed the postal arrangements, your label arrives by email, usually within 30 minutes during our contact hours. You pack your items and hand the parcel in at a Post Office counter, keeping the receipt.

Your parcel is signed for on arrival and opened at our Bristol office, where each item is weighed and tested with an XRF analyser, an X-ray test that does not mark the metal. You then get a dated written offer showing the purity, weight and rate used. It holds for a limited time, and if it lapses we re-run it at that day’s rate.

Accept, and we aim to pay by Faster Payments within one working hour of your acceptance. Before we pay, we ask for a photo of your passport or driving licence. Decline, and everything comes back by Royal Mail Special Delivery at our cost.

Label not arrived within an hour? Message us on WhatsApp and we will resend it.

What does "prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery" actually mean?

The label we issue is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, the postal service Royal Mail uses for anything that needs a signed handover at every step. "Prepaid" means the postage cost is on our account, not yours: you show the QR code at the counter (or print the label) and hand the parcel in without paying anything at the Post Office. Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. GoldPaid can confirm the appropriate postal option before you post. Worth more than that? Message us before posting so we can split the consignment across two or more labels.

None of the postal vocabulary is jargon for its own sake, so here is what each piece of it does for you:

  • Tracked end to end. Every scan point along the parcel’s journey is timestamped on the Royal Mail tracking page, from the Post Office counter to our Bristol office.
  • Signed for on delivery. Nobody can leave the parcel on a mat or in a porch. A named person signs for it at our end.
  • Cover in transit. Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. Compensation follows the evidence of actual loss, which is why the photograph-before-you-seal habit (see the shipping guide) matters.
  • Proof of postage. A paper receipt with the tracking number printed on it, issued by the Post Office when you hand the parcel over. Keep it until the sale is complete: it is your evidence the parcel entered the network, and any Royal Mail claim depends on it.
  • QR code option. Ask us for it when we arrange your postage. Instead of a printed label, a QR code arrives in your email; the Post Office counter scans it and prints the label for you. No home printer needed.

Before you arrange postage

Does requesting a label commit me to selling?

No. The label is free and there is no obligation at any point. When your parcel arrives we weigh each item and test its purity with an XRF analyser, an X-ray test that does not mark the metal, then send a written offer. You decide then. If you decline, your items come back to you free by Royal Mail Special Delivery.

How long does the label take to arrive?

The label is emailed, usually within 30 minutes between 8am and 9pm, seven days a week, so a request sent on a Sunday evening is normally dealt with that evening rather than the following week.

What postal cover applies?

Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. GoldPaid can confirm the appropriate postal option before you post, based on what you are sending.

Do I have to know the weight or the carat first?

No, and it does not matter. Please send us a few photos on WhatsApp, or call us to describe what you have. We weigh and test each item when it arrives, and the purity, weight and rate used all appear on your written offer.

How long does the written offer last?

Each written offer is dated and holds for a limited time. If it lapses, we re-run it at that day’s rate.

Do I need ID?

Not to request a label. Before we pay, we ask every seller for a photo of their passport or driving licence, whatever the parcel is worth. It applies to everyone, so it is never a comment on you, and it is how we check identity and ownership before money moves.

Can I do this without WhatsApp?

Yes. Call us and we will help you with your items and arrange postage when you are ready. Your label comes by email, and we can continue by email or phone if you prefer.

What do you do with my address?

It is used to issue your label and to talk to you about your items. It is not sold or shared, and it is not used for marketing. ICO registration ZC214216 (data controller: Rocco Clayfield, trading as GoldPaid). Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Not the question you had? The full GoldPaid FAQ covers the rest, from postal cover and ID checks to what happens if you decline the offer.
