Who is responsible
Rocco Clayfield, founder and sole director of GOLDPAID LTD, is responsible for the content of this site. Pages are published under the GoldPaid name, and journal articles carry his name as the author. Who he is, and how to check the company, is on about GoldPaid and the founder’s page.
How pages are written
Pages are drafted with the help of software, including AI writing tools, and published under Rocco Clayfield’s responsibility. No page is presented as the work of an outside expert. A figure on a page is either drawn from a named public source or presented as a clearly labelled worked example. GoldPaid does not publish buying rates on this site; what you are paid is set privately after an XRF assay of your specific items and shown in your written offer.
GoldPaid has an interest in what readers decide, because it buys gold and silver. Where another route suits a reader better, such as an auction house, a specialist dealer or a pawnbroker, the page says so. Pages that compare GoldPaid with named companies describe what those companies published on their own sites and give the date it was read.
Where facts come from
Statements about the law, tax and official rules are checked against primary sources: legislation.gov.uk, GOV.UK and HMRC guidance, the UK assay offices and the British Hallmarking Council, Companies House and the Information Commissioner’s Office. Royal Mail service details come from Royal Mail. The legal and compliance pages, such as payments, cash and money laundering rules and hallmarking, link each source and give the date it was checked. Some older guides do not yet list their sources, and they are being brought up to that standard.
GoldPaid does not publish per-gram buying rates or a rate table on this site. What you are paid is set privately after an XRF assay of your specific items, priced against the live precious-metal market with the margin already inside the figure, and shown with the calculation in your written offer.
What is checked before a change goes live
Every change runs through automated checks before it is published, and publication stops if any page:
- mentions Royal Mail cover without the standard wording: Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. GoldPaid can confirm the appropriate postal option before you post.
- calls the postal service “insured” (Royal Mail pays compensation, not insurance)
- shows a review count
- carries a mobile number other than 07944 014111
- claims how often something happens in GoldPaid’s own parcels without evidence
- links to a page on this site that does not exist
Those checks catch known mistakes. They do not replace reading a page, and they cannot prove that a statement is true.
What this site does not publish
- Review scores, review counts or review quotes. Reviews are on Trustpilot, where GoldPaid cannot edit them.
- A guaranteed value before inspection. Final offers depend on inspection, item weight, purity, hallmarks, stones, non-gold components, condition and the live precious-metal market.
- Statistics about GoldPaid’s own parcels that have not been measured.
- Reviewers, qualifications or memberships that do not exist.
Specialist review and advice
No page on this site names an outside reviewer. Guides on law, tax and probate are general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. If a solicitor, tax adviser or qualified valuer reviews a page and agrees in writing to be named, the page will say who they are, their qualification and the date.
Dates and corrections
Pages show when they were published or last reviewed, and legal pages carry a version date. A date changes only when the content changes.
