No pressure to begin with
There is genuinely nothing to commit to up front. A WhatsApp message with a couple of photos of your 24ct gold gets you a quick indicative figure and an honest answer to any question. Whether you post anything is your call, made later.
GoldPaid has no high-street branches. It is postal-only and UK-wide, which is what keeps it lean and means you never have to travel.
What 24ct gold is
24ct gold carries the fineness mark 999. It is 99.9% pure gold, with the rest made up of other metals for strength and colour. It is near-pure gold and too soft for everyday jewellery, so it is mostly seen in coins, bars and some gifted items from gold-investing traditions. You may also see it stamped 24k, .999 or "fine gold".
Whatever the carat, GoldPaid pays for the confirmed gold content. 24ct items are weighed and XRF-assayed exactly like any other, a piece marked 999 is never paid at the wrong rate. For how the marks work, see the gold hallmark guide.
What 24ct gold we buy
- 24ct jewellery, rings, chains, bracelets, earrings, lockets and pendants
- Broken, worn, single or damaged 24ct pieces, condition does not matter, we pay for the metal
- Hallmarked and unhallmarked 24ct gold
- 24ct items mixed in with other carats. We separate by carat before valuing
Not sure of the carat, or cannot read the mark? Send a photo on WhatsApp, the XRF assay confirms it for certain at no cost, so you never need to identify anything before posting.
Four moving parts, all visible
- You ask, we steer. WhatsApp us photos of your 24ct gold; you get an honest indicative figure and no pressure to go further.
- We send the label. A free Royal Mail Special Delivery label arrives, tracked and signed for, with a QR-code option if you cannot print.
- You post when ready. No countdown. Use whatever padded packaging you already have.
- We test, you decide. Items are weighed and XRF-assayed, the written offer is sent, and you either accept for a Faster Payments transfer or decline for a free insured return.
Valued on fact, not estimate
Your valuation rests on what can actually be measured: the purity an XRF assay confirms, the weight a calibrated scale records, and the live precious-metal rate at the time of assessment. It is all shown to you in writing first. XRF testing explained covers how the assay works.
Indicative 24ct rates are published on our gold calculator, currently around £103 per gram. That figure moves with the live market and is a guide only; your firm offer follows the XRF assay of your specific items.
How your parcel is protected
Royal Mail Special Delivery cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. Your items travel on Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed: fully tracked, needs a signature on delivery, arranged with that compensation cover per parcel. Worth more than that? Tell us before you post, and we will either arrange extra cover or suggest splitting the items across separate parcels. See postage and insurance for the full picture.
If the offer is not for you
Then nothing happens except a free return. We send your items back by tracked, insured post at our cost, with no fee for declining and no follow-up. A valuation is only worth having if you can turn it down freely, so you can. See what happens if I decline the offer.
Who this helps
This page suits people holding near-pure gold, bullion bars, gold coins and the occasional 24ct gifted piece. At 99.9% pure, 24ct is the most valuable gold per gram. For bars and coins specifically, see sell gold bullion and sell gold & silver coins.
Being paid
If you accept, payment follows by Faster Payments, transferred directly to your bank account. It is the last step, and a simple one.
Why sellers choose GoldPaid
GoldPaid is a small, owner-run UK business built on one promise: show the working. Every item is XRF-assayed and weighed on calibrated scales, every offer is itemised in writing, postage is free and insured both ways, and there is never a countdown or a hard sell. If something is worth more to a specialist than to us, we say so.
Common questions
Do you buy broken or unhallmarked 24ct gold?
Yes. Condition does not matter. We pay for the metal content, so broken, worn and single items are all welcome. Unhallmarked gold is fine too; the XRF assay confirms the carat for certain.
Is 24ct gold pure gold?
24ct is 99.9% pure, effectively pure gold. It is too soft for everyday jewellery, so it is mostly found in coins, bars and some gifted pieces. It is the most valuable gold per gram and is valued against the live rate after an XRF assay.
What if I decline the offer?
Your items are returned to you free of charge by tracked, insured Royal Mail post. There is no fee for declining and no follow-up pressure.
