Ask first. Post later, or not at all.
You can ask as much as you like before anything is sent. Photos on WhatsApp give us enough to offer a quick indicative figure on your 18ct gold, and we will tell you straight if something is not worth posting. Nothing moves until you say so.
Selling with GoldPaid is done entirely by post, anywhere in the UK. There is no shop to find and no pressure at a counter, because there is no counter.
What 18ct gold is
18ct gold carries the fineness mark 750. It is 75% pure gold, with the rest made up of other metals for strength and colour. It is the premium standard for fine British jewellery, engagement rings, quality wedding bands and better dress pieces are often 18ct. You may also see it stamped 18k, 18ct or .750.
Whatever the carat, GoldPaid pays for the confirmed gold content. 18ct items are weighed and XRF-assayed exactly like any other, a piece marked 750 is never paid at the wrong rate. For how the marks work, see the gold hallmark guide.

Where the figure comes from
There is no guesswork in the offer. We confirm purity by XRF assay, weigh on calibrated scales, and price against the live market rate on the day. Every one of those numbers appears in the written breakdown you receive before deciding. The full method is on how we value gold.
Indicative 18ct rates are published on our gold calculator, currently around £76 per gram. That figure moves with the live market and is a guide only; your firm offer follows the XRF assay of your specific items.

Common questions
Do you buy broken or unhallmarked 18ct gold?
Yes. Condition does not matter. We pay for the metal content, so broken, worn and single items are all welcome. Unhallmarked gold is fine too; the XRF assay confirms the carat for certain.
Is 18ct gold worth much more than 9ct?
Yes, 18ct is 75% pure against 9ct’s 37.5%, so gram for gram it is worth roughly twice as much in gold content. Even small 18ct pieces can carry real value. Your firm offer follows the XRF assay of your specific items.
What if I decline the offer?
Your items are returned to you free of charge by tracked, insured Royal Mail post. There is no fee for declining and no follow-up pressure.
