Before you post anything
The first step is a question, not a commitment. Send a photo on WhatsApp or call us. We will give you an honest, quick indicative figure on what you have and explain exactly how the process works for your specific items. There is no charge and no obligation, and nothing leaves your hands until you decide to post.
The four steps
- Ask first, then get your free postal label. Message us on WhatsApp with a photo, or call with any questions. Tell us roughly what you have, broken chains, old jewellery, coins, scrap, silver, and we explain exactly how it works for your items. When you are ready, we send a free Royal Mail Special Delivery label; your parcel is insured up to £2,500. No waiting for a pack to arrive.
- Wrap it up and post it. Use any padded envelope. There is no special pack to wait for. Attach the label (or show the QR code at the counter), and post it tracked and signed for. Your parcel is insured up to £2,500 via Royal Mail Special Delivery from the moment it is accepted at the Post Office counter.
- In-house XRF assay and a written offer. When your parcel arrives, every item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry, a precise, scientific reading of the metal content. You receive a written, itemised offer showing purity, weight, the rate used and the figure. Nothing is hidden.
- Accept or decline. Your call. Accept and you are paid by bank transfer using Faster Payments, straight to your account. Decline and we return everything free of charge by tracked, insured post. There is never any pressure and never any fee.
How your parcel is protected
Every label we send is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, tracked end to end, signed for on delivery, and arranged with compensation cover of up to £2,500 per parcel. If you believe your items are worth more than that, message us before you post and we will arrange the right approach. You can read the detail on postage and insurance and how we handle your parcel.
How we arrive at your offer
Every offer is built from three measurable facts: confirmed purity, accurate weight, and the live precious-metal market rate on the day we assess your items. You see each figure in a written breakdown before you decide anything. The full method is on how we value gold.
Common questions
Is it safe to post gold for valuation in the UK?
Yes. Posting gold for valuation in the UK is safe when the parcel travels by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, which is tracked end-to-end, signed for on delivery and covers parcels up to £2,500. At GoldPaid the label is prepaid and free, items are opened on camera, XRF-assayed on a Thermo Scientific Niton XL2, then returned free by tracked insured post if the offer is declined. Final offers depend on inspection, weight, purity, hallmarks, stones, non-gold components, condition and the live precious-metal market.
What happens after I accept or decline a GoldPaid offer?
After XRF assay GoldPaid emails a written valuation showing the carat, weight, rate used and total. If you accept by reply, payment is sent by Faster Payments to your nominated UK bank account, usually within minutes during banking hours. If you decline, your parcel is returned free of charge by tracked Royal Mail Special Delivery covered up to £2,500. There is no fee for declining, no reason required and no follow-up pressure. You can ask questions on 07763 741067 or goldpaiduk@gmail.com (8am-9pm, seven days).
How long does it take to turn gold into cash through GoldPaid?
From posting to bank payment, the typical timeline is two to three working days: one day in transit via Royal Mail Special Delivery, same-day intake, XRF assay, written valuation by email, and Faster Payments transfer within minutes of acceptance during banking hours. The full window depends on Royal Mail delivery and when you reply with acceptance. Final offers depend on inspection, weight, purity, hallmarks, stones, non-gold components, condition and the live precious-metal market.
Do I have to commit to anything before I post?
No. You can ask as many questions as you like first, and send photos on WhatsApp for a quick indicative figure. Nothing leaves your hands until you choose to post, and even then there is no obligation to accept the offer.
How long does the whole process take?
Once your parcel arrives it is typically assessed and a written offer sent the same or next working day. If you accept, payment is made by Faster Payments. We will confirm timings with you on WhatsApp before you post.
What if I do not have a printer?
We can send a QR code instead of a label. You show it at the Post Office counter and they print the label for you. No printer needed.
What happens if I decline the offer?
Your items are returned to you free of charge by tracked, insured post. There is no fee and no follow-up pressure. The full return process is set out on the "what happens if I decline" page.
