Questions people ask before posting
Common questions
Is it safe to send gold by post in the UK?
Yes. Every parcel travels by Royal Mail Special Delivery, tracked and signed for. Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. Use a plain padded envelope and never write "gold" on the outside. If your items are worth more than that cover, message us first so we can arrange the appropriate postal option before you post.
What happens if I decline the offer?
Your items are returned to you free of charge by tracked, insured Royal Mail. No fee, no pressure, no obligation. The full process is on the what-happens-if-I-decline page.
How long does the whole process take?
Typically 48 to 72 hours from posting to payment. We send the prepaid label quickly during working hours, XRF-assay items the day we receive them, and pay by Faster Payments on the same day you accept.
How is my final offer calculated?
Each item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry to confirm purity. The figure is based on the live precious-metal market on the day of assay, the item weight, and any non-precious-metal components or stones. You see a written, itemised breakdown before you decide.
Do I need ID to sell gold by post?
For most parcels, no ID is required upfront. Higher-value parcels may need a photograph of UK photo ID for anti-money-laundering compliance. We tell you in advance if your parcel needs it.
How does payment reach me?
By UK bank transfer (Faster Payments) to the account you nominate. Payment is typically sent within the same working hour of you accepting the written offer.
