Do you value the diamonds as well as the gold?Yes. If a piece has both precious metal and stones, both are valued, the metal by XRF assay and weight, the diamonds assessed in-house against carat, cut, colour and clarity. Your written breakdown shows each part.

No pressure to begin with

There is genuinely nothing to commit to up front. A WhatsApp message with a couple of photos of your diamond jewellery gets you a quick indicative figure and an honest answer to any question. Whether you post anything is your call, made later.

GoldPaid has no high-street branches. It is postal-only and UK-wide, which is what keeps it lean and means you never have to travel.

What you can send

  • Diamond engagement and dress rings
  • Diamond earrings, pendants and tennis bracelets
  • Loose diamonds and unset stones
  • Diamond pieces in gold, white gold or platinum settings
  • Broken or damaged diamond jewellery, the metal and stones still hold value

If a piece has both precious metal and stones, both are valued, the metal by XRF assay and weight, the diamonds assessed in-house. You do not need to have anything removed or unmounted first.

How the diamonds are assessed

Diamonds are assessed in-house against the recognised factors, carat weight, cut, colour and clarity. Unlike metal, a diamond cannot be reduced to a single live "spot" figure: condition, certification and the specifics of the stone all matter. Your written offer accounts for the metal content and the stones separately, so you can see how the figure is built.

As with coins, if a stone appears to carry value as a piece in its own right beyond what we would offer, we will tell you honestly, a specialist may sometimes be the better route, and we would rather say so.

The process, step by step

  • Get in touch and show us. A WhatsApp photo of your diamond jewellery is all we need to give you an honest quick indicative figure before anything is posted.
  • Get your free label. We send a prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery label, fully tracked. If you have no printer, a QR code for the counter does the same job.
  • Send it at your own pace. Wrap it in any padded envelope and hand it in at a Post Office whenever it suits you.
  • See the written offer. We weigh and XRF-assay every item, usually on the working day your parcel arrives, then send an itemised breakdown showing exactly how the figure was reached.
  • Decide. Say yes and the money is sent by Faster Payments. Say no and your items come straight back, free and tracked.

How the offer is worked out

Three things set the offer, and all three are measured rather than assumed: confirmed purity, accurate weight, and the live market rate on assessment day. You read every figure in a written, itemised breakdown before you commit to anything. See how we value gold for the detail.

The precious-metal setting is weighed and XRF-assayed exactly as any other gold or platinum item. The diamonds are assessed separately in-house. Your written breakdown shows the metal value and the stone value so the offer is transparent. If a piece carries a maker, design or certification premium, that is flagged rather than absorbed.

Your firm offer follows the XRF assay of your own items, and depends on weight, purity, hallmarks, stones, non-precious-metal components and condition alongside the live market. Indicative rates published elsewhere on this site are a guide, not a promise.

Cover in transit

Your parcel travels on Royal Mail Special Delivery, and Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. The prepaid label is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed: full tracking, a signature on delivery, arranged with that cover per parcel. Higher-value items are no problem, but please message us first so the cover and the packing approach match the value. Postage and cover explains it fully.

Changing your mind is free

Declining costs you nothing. If the written offer does not suit you, say so, and your items come straight back by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post at our expense. No fee, no questions, no chasing. See what happens if I decline the offer for the step by step.

Who this helps

A ring from a relationship that has ended is one of the clearest cases for selling. Inherited pieces that are not to your taste come next, along with loose stones that never went back into a setting. Keep anything sentimental. This is for the diamond jewellery you genuinely want to move on.

Payment, once you accept

When you say yes to the written offer, GoldPaid pays by Faster Payments bank transfer within one working hour of acceptance, to your nominated account. You give those details only at the point you accept, never as a condition of getting an offer.

Why this is a calmer way to sell

Three things make GoldPaid a steadier route than a counter sale. You see a measured valuation in writing, not a verbal estimate. You decide at home, with nobody waiting. And if you decline, the return is free, tracked and signed for, so obtaining the valuation costs you nothing.

Common questions

Do I need a diamond certificate to sell?

No, though if you have a certificate (such as GIA or IGI), send a photo of it, as it helps. Without one, the stone is still assessed in-house. Loose stones and uncertificated diamonds are both accepted.

Should I have the diamonds removed from the setting first?

No. Send the piece intact. The metal and the stones are assessed separately without you having to unmount anything. Nothing is ever removed from a setting without your written instruction, see what happens to diamonds and gemstones for the full policy.

What if I decline the offer?

Your jewellery is returned to you free of charge by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post. There is no fee for declining and no follow-up pressure.

Request a free prepaid Royal Mail label

Tell us where to send it. The label arrives by email, usually within about 30 minutes during working hours. Requesting one commits you to nothing: you get a written offer after the XRF assay, and if you decline, your items come back to you free.

Would you rather ask a question first, or send a photo? Message us on WhatsApp . It is the fastest way to get a sense of what something is worth before you post anything.
