What can move the figure up or down
- Bands are weighed to 0.01g and XRF-tested at the hallmark and at a hidden point on the shank.
- Worn bands lose measurable weight over decades — a 40-year-old band can be 10–15% lighter than when new.
- Stones set into anniversary bands are quoted separately on the written offer and returned free if declined.
- Engraving, inscriptions and dates do not add or subtract from the offer.
How it works
- Ask first and send photos. Message us on WhatsApp with photos of your gold wedding bands for a quick indicative figure. Ask anything; there is no charge and no obligation.
- Request a prepaid Royal Mail label. We send a free Royal Mail Special Delivery label, tracked and signed for, usually within 30 minutes during working hours. No printer? We send a QR code for the Post Office counter.
- Post it when you are ready. Use any padded envelope. There is no deadline and no pressure.
- Receive a no-obligation valuation. Every item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry. You get a written, itemised offer, usually on the working day your parcel arrives, showing purity, weight, the rate used and the figure.
- Accept or decline. Accept and you are paid by bank transfer via Faster Payments. Decline and everything is returned free of charge by tracked, signed-for post.

One parcel gets one written figure, itemised piece by piece. The published rates on this site are a floor, not a headline: for the gold and silver content of your parcel — assayed purity, payable weight, the rate on the day of assay — your written offer is never below the published per-gram rate. Postage and cover
Your parcel travels on Royal Mail Special Delivery, and Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. The label we send is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed: tracked end to end and signed for on delivery. Cover level is confirmed with you on WhatsApp before the label is issued. If you decide not to sell
There is never any obligation to accept. If the offer is not for you, simply decline, and we return everything free of charge by tracked, signed-for post, with no fee and no follow-up pressure. The full return process is on what happens if I decline the offer.
Payment, once you accept
When you say yes to the written offer, GoldPaid pays by Faster Payments bank transfer within one working hour of acceptance, to your nominated account. You give those details only at the point you accept, never as a condition of getting an offer.

What if my wedding band has stones or non-gold parts?
Stones and non-gold components are separated from the payable weight and itemised on the offer. Valuable stones are quoted under our written diamond and gemstone policy; nothing is removed from a setting without your written instruction.
How is the offer calculated?
Confirmed purity from XRF, weight on calibrated scales to 0.01g, and the live precious-metal rate on the day of assay, less our margin. Each figure appears on the written breakdown so you can rebuild the total yourself.
What if I decline?
Everything is returned free of charge on tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post. There is no assessment fee, no return-postage charge and no follow-up.
