No pressure to begin with
There is genuinely nothing to commit to up front. A WhatsApp message with a couple of photos of your gold eternity rings gets you a quick indicative figure and an honest answer to any question. Whether you post anything is your call, made later.
GoldPaid has no high-street branches. It is postal-only and UK-wide, which is what keeps it lean and means you never have to travel.
How is a gold eternity ring valued when sold?
Typical weights for eternity rings
These ranges are a guide, not a promise. Real eternity rings vary widely: hollow versus solid, thin versus heavy, chain style, length and any repairs all move the weight. Every offer comes from the calibrated weighing of your specific items rather than a table.
| Style | Typical weight | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 9ct half eternity, small claw-set | 1.8–3.2 g | Gross weight; payable metal weight is lower once stones are accounted for. |
| 18ct half eternity, channel-set | 3–5.5 g | |
| 18ct full eternity, claw-set | 3.5–6.5 g | |
| Platinum-look 18ct white-gold eternity | 3–6 g | Confirm hallmark — many "white" eternity rings are platinum, not white gold, and paid on a different rate. |
| Cluster or pave anniversary band | 4–8 g | Up to 40–50% of gross weight can be stones and setting solder; payable metal weight is much lower. |
Worked examples at today's indicative rate
Every figure below is computed from GoldPaid's live per-gram rate at build time, so this table moves with the market rather than sitting stale in prose. Rates and worked figures update at the next site build; the calculator lets you plug in your own weight and carat between builds.
| Example eternity ring | Weight | Rate used | Indicative figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9ct half eternity, channel-set (metal only) | 2.6 g | £38.96/g | £101.30 |
| 18ct full eternity, claw-set (metal only) | 4.2 g | £77.93/g | £327.31 |
| 18ct half eternity, channel-set (metal only) | 3.4 g | £77.93/g | £264.96 |
What can move the figure up or down
- Every eternity ring is XRF-tested and gross-weighed on arrival, then stone weight is estimated and deducted before the metal figure is quoted.
- Diamonds above roughly 0.30ct with grading paperwork are usually worth more sold with the stones intact than as loose stones plus scrap metal — we say so on the offer sheet.
- Nothing is unset, cut or altered until you accept in writing.
- If you decline, the ring returns by tracked post at our cost.
Four moving parts, all visible
- You ask, we steer. WhatsApp us photos of your gold eternity rings; you get an honest indicative figure and no pressure to go further.
- We send the label. A free Royal Mail Special Delivery label arrives, tracked and signed for, with a QR-code option if you cannot print.
- You post when ready. No countdown. Use whatever padded packaging you already have.
- We test, you decide. We weigh and XRF-assay every item, then send you the written offer, usually on the working day your parcel arrives. Accept it for a Faster Payments transfer, or decline it for a free tracked return.
Where the figure comes from
There is no guesswork in the offer. We confirm purity by XRF assay, weigh on calibrated scales, and price against the live market rate on the day. Every one of those numbers appears in the written breakdown you receive before deciding. The full method is on how we value gold.
Indicative rates on the gold calculator move with the market. Your firm offer follows the XRF assay of your specific gold eternity rings, and every figure appears in a written breakdown before you decide anything.
One parcel gets one written figure, itemised piece by piece. The published rates on this site are a floor, not a headline: for the gold and silver content of your parcel — assayed purity, payable weight, the rate on the day of assay — your written offer is never below the published per-gram rate. Collectables, sovereigns, watches and signed pieces in the same parcel are hand-valued and can come in above it.
Postage, tracking and cover
Your parcel travels on Royal Mail Special Delivery, and Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. Every parcel uses Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, tracked from the counter to our door and signed for on arrival. Cover level is confirmed with you on WhatsApp before the label is issued. For anything you think exceeds it, contact us first; we will arrange a suitable approach rather than leave a parcel underprotected. The detail sits on postage and cover and is it safe to post gold?.
Changing your mind is free
Declining costs you nothing. If the written offer does not suit you, say so, and your items come straight back by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post at our expense. No fee, no questions, no chasing. See what happens if I decline the offer for the step by step.
Getting paid
Once you accept your written offer, payment is made by bank transfer using Faster Payments within one working hour of acceptance, directly to your account. No cheques to wait on, no conditions attached.
What backs the offer up
- XRF spectrometry on every item, not a counter estimate
- A written, itemised breakdown before you decide anything
- Free tracked postage in, free tracked return out
- No countdowns, no pressure, no fabricated reviews
- An owner-run business whose founder, Rocco Clayfield, answers questions himself
Common questions
What if my eternity ring has stones or non-gold parts?
Stones and non-gold components are separated from the payable weight and itemised on the offer. Valuable stones are quoted under our written diamond and gemstone policy; nothing is removed from a setting without your written instruction.
How is the offer calculated?
Confirmed purity from XRF, weight on calibrated scales to 0.01g, and the live precious-metal rate on the day of assay, less our margin. Each figure appears on the written breakdown so you can rebuild the total yourself.
What if I decline?
Everything is returned free of charge on tracked, signed-for Royal Mail post. There is no assessment fee, no return-postage charge and no follow-up.
Request a free prepaid Royal Mail label
Three quick steps. The label arrives by email, usually within about 30 minutes during working hours. Requesting one commits you to nothing: you get a written offer after the XRF assay, and if you decline, your items come back to you free.
