Is my Pandora bracelet real silver?Genuine Pandora is sterling silver, stamped ALE 925 or S925 ALE on the clasp, the charm core or the inside of a ring band. If the stamp is worn or you suspect a fake, readings are taken at several points including wear edges, which is how base metal under a thin plate is identified; those pieces are returned to you free with no offer made.

Can I ask first?
Yes. WhatsApp a photo to 07944 014111, 8am to 9pm, every day, and we reply with an idea of what it is worth. Nothing is posted until you decide.
Is it safe to post?
Your parcel travels by Royal Mail Special Delivery, tracked and signed for. Royal Mail cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. GoldPaid can confirm the appropriate postal option before you post.
How is it tested?
Your parcel is signed for on arrival and opened at our Bristol office, where each item is weighed and tested with an XRF analyser, an X-ray test that reads the metal without marking it. Your written offer lists each piece with its weight, purity and figure.
What if I say no?
We return everything by Royal Mail Special Delivery at our cost. Saying no costs you nothing.
When am I paid?
Only if you accept the written offer. We aim for the money to reach your bank within 24 hours of posting. We use Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, test your items promptly on receipt, and aim to pay by Faster Payments within one working hour of your acceptance. The 24-hour target is an aim, not a guarantee: it depends on posting before the local cut-off, the applicable working-day delivery service, prompt acceptance, completed identity checks and bank processing.
How long does an offer last?
Each written offer is dated and holds for a limited time, because metal prices move. If it lapses, we re-run it at that day’s rate.
Who am I dealing with?
GOLDPAID LTD, registered in England and Wales, run by founder Rocco Clayfield. Our office is at Unit 217, Bristol Business Centre, 179 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 2AG. We are postal only, so there is no counter to visit. Before we pay, we ask every seller for a photo of their passport or driving licence.

Short answer
Pandora is real sterling silver, which is why a silver buyer can value it at all, but we will be straight with you before you pack anything. A complete Pandora bracelet in wearable condition is usually worth more sold intact on the second-hand market than it is as scrap, because silver is worth relatively little by weight and buyers of used Pandora pay for the brand, not the metal. Where the scrap route does make sense (broken pieces, tarnished odds and ends, single common charms, a mixed drawer lot), we buy Pandora by post at its assayed sterling weight, the same way we buy any other silver. GoldPaid is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Pandora; the name is used here only to describe the items customers ask us about.
Is Pandora real silver? Reading the ALE stamp
Genuine Pandora sterling carries the maker mark ALE (the initials of the founder’s father, Algot Enevoldsen) together with a fineness mark: ALE 925 or S925 ALE means sterling silver, 92.5 per cent. On a Moments bracelet the stamp sits on or beside the clasp; on charms it is around the threaded core; on rings it is inside the band. Three variants matter to the value. ALE 585 is solid 14ct gold, a different category entirely and worth considerably more by weight. Tell us if you see it. Pandora Shine is 18ct gold plating over sterling, and Pandora Rose is 14ct rose gold plating over a silver-copper blend: both are valued as the silver underneath, because a plated layer holds no recoverable gold. Counterfeit Pandora is common on marketplace sites. Readings taken at wear points and joints are what separate solid sterling from base metal under a thin plate; where a piece is not sterling it is returned to you free of charge with no offer made against it.
The maths: scrap weight against second-hand value
The arithmetic is simple enough to do at your kitchen table. A bare Moments snake-chain bracelet weighs roughly 13 to 16 grams of sterling depending on length. A typical solid silver charm weighs 2 to 4 grams, and a clip around 2 grams. Murano glass charms hold only around a gram of silver in the core (the glass itself has no metal value), and enamel, cubic zirconia, resin and leather straps add weight but no silver. So a loaded bracelet that feels heavy in the hand often assays to noticeably less silver than its gross weight suggests.
Silver is worth relatively little by weight, modest next to gold; the silver price and selling by post page explains where it sits. A full bracelet with a dozen charms adds up to a scrap figure well below what the same bracelet, intact, genuine and presentable, commonly changes hands for second-hand. Retired or discontinued charms carry collector premiums that no scrap buyer can pay, including us. If your Pandora is complete, genuine and in good condition, listing it on eBay, Vinted or a specialist resale site will usually pay you more, and we would rather tell you that before you post it than melt value you could have kept.
When selling Pandora for scrap is the sensible route
The second-hand route is not always worth the effort. Common charms in worn condition sell slowly and cheaply once listing fees, postage and returns are counted. A snapped bracelet, a single earring, a tangle of tarnished pieces, or Pandora mixed into a wider drawer clear-out of gold and silver is often better handled as one parcel, one assay and one payment. Certainty has a value of its own, and some sellers simply do not want weeks of listings and messages from strangers.
What we can do: weigh and XRF-assay every piece individually, itemise each on the written offer, value the assayed sterling weight against the live precious-metal market on the day, value any ALE 585 solid gold piece as gold, and look at your WhatsApp photos first and say honestly whether the resale route looks better for what you have. What we cannot do: pay for the brand name, for retired-charm collector value, for glass, enamel or stones, or for boxes and packaging. Request a prepaid Royal Mail label. We send a free Royal Mail Special Delivery label, tracked and signed for, usually within 30 minutes between 8am and 9pm. No printer? We send a QR code for the Post Office counter.
Post it when you are ready. Use any padded envelope. There is no deadline and no pressure.
Receive a no-obligation valuation. Every item is weighed and tested by XRF spectrometry at our Bristol office. You get a written, itemised offer, usually on the working day your parcel arrives, showing purity, weight and the figure.
Accept or decline. Accept and you are paid by bank transfer via Faster Payments. Decline and everything is returned free of charge by tracked, signed-for post.

What decides your offer
Every parcel is opened at our Bristol office and each piece is handled on its own. Nothing is averaged across the parcel.
Weight. Each item is weighed on scales. Stones, steel springs, non-gold clasps and cores are not paid as gold. The written breakdown explains the payable metal weight for each item, rather than treating everything on the scales as precious metal.
Purity. Each item is tested with an XRF analyser, which reads the metals at the points tested without marking the item. A surface reading alone cannot establish the composition of a plated or filled piece. Hallmarks, construction and different components all need to be considered alongside the test.
The market on the day. Gold and silver are priced against the live precious-metal market at the time your parcel is assessed, not at the time you posted.
Condition and intact value. Broken is fine and does not reduce a metal offer. Where a piece is worth more intact (a named maker, a collectable coin, a locket with provenance) we tell you before testing, so you can choose.
Anything that is not gold or silver. Plated, rolled-gold and base-metal items are listed on the offer at nothing and returned to you free. We never quietly keep them.
Why we do not publish a per-gram price list. A single printed rate hides the things that change the figure: hollow versus solid, stones, mixed carats in one bag, a mark that does not match the metal. We would rather show you the weight, the tested purity and the figure for each item, in writing, and let you decide. Who this is for, what we do not buy, and ID
Who this is for. Anyone with a Pandora bracelet, charms or rings they no longer wear who wants the scrap figure in writing, to weigh against a second-hand sale before deciding.
What we pay nothing for. GoldPaid pays nothing for pieces the assay shows are plated base metal rather than sterling. Any such pieces in your parcel are listed at nil on the written valuation and returned free of charge by tracked post, whether you accept the offer on the rest or decline it. ID and ownership checks. Every seller sends a photograph of UK photo ID, a passport or a driving licence, whatever the parcel is worth. We check the name and address on the Royal Mail label against the name on the bank account, and ask you to confirm that the items are yours to sell. GoldPaid only buys from sellers aged 18 or over. How much is my Pandora bracelet actually worth?
As scrap, it is valued on its assayed silver weight against the live silver market, which for a bracelet and a handful of charms is modest next to what it can fetch intact. Sold intact second-hand, a genuine bracelet in good condition commonly fetches a multiple of its scrap value. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you which route looks better for yours.
Is Pandora worth selling for silver?
Sometimes, and weight decides it. Sterling is 92.5 per cent silver, and a piece is valued on its confirmed sterling weight against the live silver market, with our margin already accounted for. As a rough working line, around a hundred grams of confirmed sterling is where a standalone silver parcel starts to feel worth the effort, and even a fully loaded Pandora bracelet rarely reaches half of that once glass, enamel and stones are discounted. So a complete, wearable Pandora set on its own is usually better sold intact second-hand, while Pandora that is broken, incomplete, or going into a parcel that already holds gold jewellery, coins or larger silver is well worth including. Any figure depends on inspection, item weight, purity, stones, condition and the live precious-metal market.
How much does a Pandora bracelet weigh?
A bare Moments snake-chain bracelet is roughly 13 to 16 grams of sterling in the common 18 to 20 cm sizes; as a rule of thumb the chain runs about three quarters of a gram per centimetre of length, so the 16 cm size sits below that band and the 23 cm size above it. Solid charms are typically 2 to 4 grams each, clips around 2 grams, spacers around 1 gram and a safety chain 1 to 2 grams. Two things pull the silver weight below what your kitchen scales say: Murano glass, enamel, resin and cubic zirconia add gross weight but hold no recoverable metal, and mesh, leather and fabric bracelets are sterling only at the clasp and end caps. Those figures are typical rather than a quotation. Every piece is weighed and XRF-assayed individually on arrival and shown as its own line on the written offer.
Should I sell my Pandora to GoldPaid or on eBay?
If it is complete, genuine and presentable, eBay, Vinted or a specialist resale site will usually pay more, because those buyers pay for the brand rather than the metal. If it is broken, incomplete, mixed into a wider clear-out, or you would rather have one written offer and one payment than weeks of listings, the postal scrap route makes sense. Is Pandora Shine or Pandora Rose real gold?
No. Shine is 18ct gold plating over sterling silver and Rose is 14ct rose gold plating over a silver-copper blend, so both are valued as the metal underneath rather than as gold. Solid gold Pandora exists but is stamped ALE 585. If you see that mark, say so, because it is valued as gold.
Do Murano glass and enamel charms have any scrap value?
Only the silver core, which is typically around a gram. The glass, enamel, resin and any cubic zirconia carry no metal value, so a glass charm that weighs 4 grams gross contains far less recoverable silver than a solid one. Each charm is weighed and assayed individually and shown as its own line on the written offer.
Do you pay more for retired or rare charms?
No, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. A scrap buyer pays for metal, and retired charms are exactly the pieces where a collector will pay well above metal, so those are the ones to sell second-hand rather than post to us. If your photos show charms we think fit that description, we will say so before you send anything.
How do I know if a Pandora charm is retired, and does that change what it is worth?
Pandora withdraws designs regularly as its collections change, so anything more than a few seasons old may have been retired. Three checks help. Look for the design’s item number on the original box, card or receipt if you still have them. Compare the charm against the current Pandora range online, since a design that is no longer listed has been withdrawn. And note the categories collectors chase hardest, which tend to be early club and limited-edition releases, discontinued Disney and travel charms, older Murano glass designs, and solid gold pieces stamped ALE 585. It matters because a retired charm can be worth several times its metal value to a collector, and that premium is paid on specialist resale sites and at jewellery auction houses, not by a metal buyer. We cannot pay it and will not pretend otherwise, so if you have retired pieces, sell those separately and post us only what is broken, common or genuinely unwanted.
