PAMP Suisse in plain terms
PAMP, Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux, is a Swiss precious metals refiner based in Castel San Pietro, founded in 1977. PAMP bars sit on the LBMA Good Delivery List and are among the most widely held investment bars in the world. The two faces most UK sellers recognise are the smooth reverse with the PAMP wordmark and serial number, and the obverse showing the Lady Fortuna design.
Lady Fortuna was the first decorated bar design from a major refiner. The figure holds a cornucopia and pours coins. It became so widely copied that PAMP introduced Veriscan technology to combat counterfeiting.
Veriscan, holograms and assay cards
Bars produced from the mid-1990s onward have a hologram on the assay card that catches the light differently from the bar metal. Bars produced from around 2013 onward carry Veriscan, a microscopic surface fingerprint unique to each individual bar. The fingerprint is checked through the PAMP app or through a partner refinery. We use this where the bar has been broken out of its card or where the seller wants extra verification.
A sealed PAMP bar inside an unbroken CertiPAMP assay card with a matching serial number is the simplest case. It tests cleanly under XRF, the serial matches the card and the offer is built directly from weight and live market price.
Sizes PAMP produce
PAMP gold bars are made in 1 gram, 2.5 gram, 5 gram, 10 gram, 20 gram, 1oz, 50 gram, 100 gram, 250 gram, 500 gram, 1 kilo and larger sizes. Smaller bars carry a higher new-buy premium and trade closer to bullion when resold. Larger bars trade closest to wholesale.
How an offer is calculated
Final offers depend on inspection, item weight, purity, hallmarks, stones, non-gold components, condition and the live precious-metal market. For PAMP bars the inputs are weight, XRF reading, card condition and Veriscan verification where applicable. A sealed CertiPAMP bar with matching serial gets the cleanest offer. A broken-out bar with matching Veriscan trail gets a close offer. A bar without card and without Veriscan trail is still saleable but the offer factors in the extra verification work.
Posting PAMP bars safely
- WhatsApp photos of both faces of the bar, the assay card serial and the hologram to 07763 741067.
- Wait for the shape-of-offer reply and the prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery label.
- Do not break the CertiPAMP seal yourself. The sealed card is part of what we test.
- Wrap the card in bubble wrap and place inside a rigid mailer.
- Hand in at a Post Office counter and keep the receipt.
- Send the tracking number on WhatsApp.
Insurance, decline and payment
Your parcel is insured up to £2,500 via Royal Mail Special Delivery. Larger PAMP bars (typically 50 grams and above at current prices) may exceed that cap on their own. Tell us before you ship and we will issue the right label arrangement. Accept and Faster Payments leaves the same working day. Decline and the bar is posted back by tracked post at our cost.
