Ask first. Post later, or not at all.
You can ask as much as you like before anything is sent. Photos on WhatsApp give us enough to offer a quick indicative figure on your gold or silver, and we will tell you straight if something is not worth posting. Nothing moves until you say so.
Selling with GoldPaid is done entirely by post, anywhere in the UK. There is no shop to find and no pressure at a counter, because there is no counter.
Andover in context, and what we tend to receive from here
Andover is a long-established North-Hampshire market town inside the SP postcode area shared with Salisbury, with a deep rural-and-agricultural-trade history. The household jewellery flow here is shaped by a long-settled mixed demographic with a steady stock of inherited mid-twentieth-century pieces.
Older inherited Hampshire pieces sometimes arrive with rubbed-through hallmarks; the XRF reads the metal directly on a cleaned surface rather than relying on a worn stamp.
How it works
- Ask first and send photos. Message us on WhatsApp with photos of your gold or silver for a quick indicative figure. Ask anything; there is no charge and no obligation.
- Request a prepaid Royal Mail label. We send a free Royal Mail Special Delivery label, tracked and signed for. No printer? We send a QR code for the Post Office counter.
- Post it when you are ready. Use any padded envelope. There is no deadline and no pressure.
- Receive a no-obligation valuation. Every item is weighed on calibrated scales and tested by XRF spectrometry. You get a written, itemised offer: purity, weight, the rate used and the figure.
- Accept or decline. Accept and you are paid by bank transfer via Faster Payments. Decline and everything is returned free of charge by tracked, insured post.
Valued on fact, not estimate
Your valuation rests on what can actually be measured: the purity an XRF assay confirms, the weight a calibrated scale records, and the live precious-metal rate at the time of assessment. It is all shown to you in writing first. XRF testing explained covers how the assay works.
An Andover SP-postcode parcel from the North-Hampshire market belt
Andover sits inside the Royal Mail SP postcode area shared with Salisbury, covering the town centre out through Charlton, Walworth, Picket Piece and Anton. Special Delivery handles any SP postcode on the standard one-working-day route into our address.
SP-Andover parcels often arrive with older inherited Hampshire pieces where the hallmarks have been worn thin by daily use. The XRF reads the metal directly on a cleaned surface rather than relying on the stamp condition, so a worn-faced or partly-rubbed mark is no obstacle to a fair valuation.
From an Andover counter the parcel routes overnight via the regional Mail Centre to our address. The counter receipt's tracking reference is your one document for the journey; a phone photograph at the counter is enough.
Cover in transit
Royal Mail Special Delivery cover may be available up to £2,500 depending on the postal method and cover level used. The prepaid label is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed: full tracking, a signature on delivery, arranged with that cover per parcel. Higher-value items are no problem, but please message us first so the cover and the packing approach match the value. Postage and insurance explains it fully.
If you decide not to sell
There is never any obligation to accept. If the offer is not for you, simply decline, and we return everything free of charge by tracked, insured post, with no fee and no follow-up pressure. The full return process is on what happens if I decline the offer.
Payment, once you accept
When you say yes to the written offer, GoldPaid pays by Faster Payments bank transfer to your nominated account. You give those details only at the point you accept, never as a condition of getting an offer.
Why this is a calmer way to sell
Three things make GoldPaid a steadier route than a counter sale. You see a measured valuation in writing, not a verbal estimate. You decide at home, with nobody waiting. And if you decline, the return is free, tracked and insured, so obtaining the valuation costs you nothing.
Common questions
How long does a parcel from Andover take to reach you?
Royal Mail Special Delivery from any SP-postcode address normally reaches our address the next working morning. We weigh and XRF-assay your items the same day, and the written offer is emailed back to you within working hours of arrival.
Can I ask questions before I post anything?
Yes, and we recommend it. Message us on WhatsApp or call, ask anything about the items, the cover, the testing process, or the return route if you decline. Nothing has to be posted until you are satisfied with the answers.
How is the parcel cover arranged?
The label we send is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed, fully tracked and signed for, covered up to £2,500 as standard. If your items may exceed that figure, send a rough total weight beforehand and we will arrange the appropriate higher-cover level before any label is issued.
What happens if I do not accept the offer?
Your items are returned to you free of charge by tracked, signed-for Royal Mail Special Delivery. There is no fee, no pressure and no obligation to accept. You keep the XRF certificate and written offer as a record of what your gold is worth.
